Mr Howard Davies is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Northern General Hospital, with a private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital.
He specialises in all conditions related to the Foot & Ankle including arthritis, sports injuries, deformity correction, trauma and diabetic feet.
He graduated from Manchester University in 1999 and subsequently undertook his Orthopaedic higher surgical training in Leeds and Cambridge. During this period, he gained an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University.
Throughout his training Mr Davies was interested in Foot & Ankle surgery and came to Sheffield to undertake a one-year Fellowship in July 2010. After this, he became a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Northwest and was appointed as a full time Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals in October 2013.
He is actively involved in research and has been presented with the prestigious Roger Mann award for best clinical paper by the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) on two occasions, for his contribution to studies on the Cartiva implant. In March 2022 he was awarded the Chang Chen prize as part of the Infinity study group by the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS) for research into Total Ankle Replacements.
Mr Davies was elected to the Education Committee of BOFAS in 2018 and regularly teaches on courses both in the UK and Internationally.
In his spare time, he enjoys walking his dogs in the Peak District, is a keen snowboarder, and occasionally plays Bass Guitar in a band.
