In January 2006, Mark was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in treating elective and traumatic conditions of the adult foot and ankle at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.
He qualified from the University of Southampton in 1993 and undertook basic training in London, Oxford and Swindon prior to commencing Orthopaedic training in Sheffield.
He is both Fellowship trained in Limb Reconstruction techniques (Sheffield) and in Adult Foot & Ankle surgery, having spent 2005 working with the renowned Dr Terry Saxby at the Brisbane Foot & Ankle Centre.
Mark is involved with the training of young orthopaedic surgeons and was awarded Trainer of the Year in 2019. He is active in research projects regarding traumatic and elective conditions of the foot and ankle having published a multitude of papers. In 2004 he received the Chen Memorial Prize from BOFAS for best research and, on two occasions, has received the prestigious Roger Mann Award from the American Foot & Ankle Society as part of the team of collaborators on the Cartiva MOTION study. In addition, he remains actively involved in implant design and patient specific implants.
Mark is the current Honorary Secretary for the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society.
He is married with three children and founder member and guitarist with Mill Stone Grit!
