Simon Buckley graduated from London University in 1990 and was a higher surgical trainee in Leeds. Simon gained the FRCS (Tr & Orth) qualification in 2000. Prior to taking up a Consultant position at the Northern General Hospital, he was The Cavendish Hip Fellow in Sheffield. Simon was President of the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association in 2001-2002.
Simon was one of the founding members of Sheffield Orthopaedics Ltd and a member of the board of directors from 2004 to 2014.
Simon is a member of the Lower Limb Arthroplasty Unit at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. The unit performs over 1000 hip and knee replacements a year and specialise in treating complex hip and knee problems including revision joint replacements.
Simon is currently a Deputy Medical Director at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and is an educational supervisor for the junior doctors on the South Yorkshire Training Rotation. He is also the Editorial Secretary of the British Hip Society
Simon has three children and outside of work enjoys walking, skiing and supports his hometown football club
